1. Late Pa Gabriel Ahimie’s Diaries:
The issue of the diaries owned by the late Pa Gabriel Ahimie was mentioned by Elizabeth. She said that Ahimie grandchildren would benefit from reading the diaries as it could give us an idea of our history and the type of man our grandfather was. Imonikhe agreed with her. He said the diaries had so much information and would certainly help the grandchildren to know more about their roots and their connection to other extended relatives in Sabongidda- Ora . Uncle Joe promised to look into the matter while Imonikhe said the last time he saw the diaries was during his late grandmother‘s funeral in his father’s room in Sabongidda- Ora.
It was also suggested that for the sake of history and in lieu of the said diaries, anybody whose parents has any information or probably have written a diary on their childhood days in Ora should please release it to the house as this could be a good source of information for the grandchildren and the proposed website..
2. Family Tree:
Imonikhe told the house that he has started drawing up a family tree. He promised to send a copy to the coordinator for his perusal and corrections. He said he was hoping that if it is put on the website, family members would fill in the blanks with appropriate family name.
Uncle Joe showed the house a family tree he has started to draw but is yet to complete. He started the link with the Igbo and his brother Orize. It has gotten to the following: Mama Ikeke , Papa James Ajayi, Papa Israel Ojo, Mama Ukpodora, Papa Okwevbie Gabriel, Papa Imaku. What is left to fill are the names of their children and spouses.
The name Ahimie was derived from “ Akhmiemenona”. Which literally means- “you can’t take my child away from me, even if you take away the mother”.
Ora Family Tree:
Elizabeth said she has gotten in touch with Mrs Mabel Segun’s daughter about copying the Ora family tree shown to her by Mrs Segun. This particular tree has different Ora families and their connections. She is awaiting a reply.
